Full moon names
The names in the table are the traditional ones for each month’s full moon in North America, as the Old Farmer’s Almanac lists them: the Wolf Moon in January, the Strawberry Moon in June, and so on. Two follow the season instead of the month:
- The Harvest Moon is the full moon nearest the September equinox. When it falls in October, as in 2028, September’s full moon is the Corn Moon.
- The Hunter’s Moon is the one after it.
A second full moon in one calendar month is a Blue Moon.
What the times mean
A full moon is the moment the Moon is opposite the Sun, as seen from Earth. It looks full for a night or two around that moment, so the evening before or after works as well for looking at it. The times here are converted to your computer’s time zone. If your clock’s time zone is wrong, so are they.
